Oscar Wilde(2000) PENGUIN READERS LEVEL3, THE YOUNG KING AND OTHER STORIES Today, I introduce " THE YOUNG KING" written by Oscar Wilde. Oscar Wilde is a famous as writer and poet of 19th cemtury. His short tale, " THE HAPPY PRINCE " is a most famous story and loved by around the world. This book is a collection of his some stories so the story is included in this. However, I want to introduce not " THE HAPPY PRINCE", but " THE YOUNG KING" because I like it than former. Japanese are likely to ptefer simpleness and sober to showy and luxury. In contrast, in my mind, English are fashionable and sensitive to the latest trends. This book tells us the real beauty of simple and natural things, although this was written in UK. The main character is a young king who was brought up by forester. When he was found by the old king's servent in the forest, he believed that the boy was the son of a poor forester. But actually, he was
